Happy Chandara School

Our Support to the Community

Support for public schools

Often limited to part-time schedules in overcrowded classrooms, lessons in public schools offer difficult learning conditions. Because it is essential to maintain the social fabric and keep the young girls connected to their original environment, the Happy Chandara campus provides support to nearby public schools.

Depending on identified needs, Toutes à l’école offers them concrete material assistance: school supplies, installation of toilets, renovation of libraries and classrooms, distribution of bicycle helmets to pupils…

Students as ambassadors of sharing

Because they also learn to give back, some of our students visit public schools around the Happy Chandara campus to read stories to younger children. A simple yet powerful gesture that embodies solidarity and the importance of learning to share.

Support classes for local boys on the Happy Chandara campus

Classes for boys too

For several years now, fifty boys from the village have been attending support classes on the Happy Chandara campus every Saturday. This program includes academic reinforcement in Khmer and mathematics, as well as introductory computer training.

Eco-friendly food basket distributions

Every month, the Happy Chandara campus organizes the distribution of food and hygiene baskets to the most disadvantaged parents of pupils, to compensate for the loss of income caused by their daughter attending school instead of working in the fields or in factories.

This support also follows an eco-friendly recycling approach: beneficiary families return the empty rice bag from the previous month filled with plastic waste collected around their homes. This plastic is then sent to a recycling plant.

Decent housing for the most vulnerable families

Thanks to the SOS Maisons program, carried out in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Cambodia and others, around thirty houses are rebuilt each year for the families of Happy Chandara campus pupils whose homes are the most dilapidated. They then benefit from safe, solid housing equipped with electricity and sanitation.

These families also receive practical training and toolkits to maintain their new homes, strengthen their autonomy and ensure the safety of their children.
