In 2024, Cambodia experienced the equivalent of 220 days of heatwave, according to criteria defined in Paris.
This means that 60% of the year was spent under extreme temperatures comparable to those currently faced in France.
Yet on Happy Chandara campus, air conditioners are almost non-existent – reserved mainly for a few computer rooms and offices.
To fight against this stifling heat and improve learning conditions, we launched a large-scale project to green the school’s courtyards and façades.
The result? A drop of nearly 5°C measured in some areas. Proof that nature is a powerful ally in creating more resilient, sustainable… and livable school environments.
